Carcassonne Hotels, France
Where to stay in Carcassonne depends on what type of trip you're planning. If you're spending a weekend seeing the town, it's worth paying extra (and booking in advance) to stay at one of the two hotels in the historic walled Cité (at the top of the hotel list below). On the other hand, if you've hired a car
and you're travelling around this part of France, you may find it more convenient to stay a short distance from town, in a cheaper chain hotel with parking and good road access.
**** Hotel de la Cité
The poshest hotel in town, in a dream location between the Cathedral and the Castle. The four-star hotel is built on the site of the thirteenth-century Bishop's Palace with gardens next to the ramparts. An upmarket and romantic place to stay.
